The Chocolate Habanero pepper is a cultivar of the habanero chili, which has been selectively bred to produce spicier, heavier, and larger fruit, ultimately more potent than its derivative. The Chocolate Habanero, also called Congo Black or Black Habanero, originated in the Caribbean and Central America. Known for its rich, smoky flavor with hints of fruit and cocoa, it’s extremely hot—ranging from 300,000 to 425,000 Scoville units. Its deep brown pods add complexity and intense spice to sauces and salsas.
